Artist Statement
Genre 1 - Twitter
I created this genre because of the audience I wanted to reach. Forms of social media like twitter are huge in young peoples lives. I wanted to interact with my direct audience at the same time be visible to the younger generation in hopes that they can learn from this.
I have used a twitter before, so I am up to date with how to handle it.
I started with a different genre then switched it to Twitter.
The process of composing my genre was very simple, once I figured out I was going to do a twitter I had to compose a name, once I generated that I created a back-ground photo and then all that was left was to fill out a bio explaining my profile and begin tweeting.
This genre is posted on my third genre (flyer) that was placed outside of admissions over the weekend.
Twitter being its own form of social media already has its own audience that is specific to twitter, for example those people who are only on twitter and no other forms of social media. But being that it is on twitter allowed me to broaden my community reach and talk to all undergraduate pre-med/allied health students across the country that are going through similar problems.
Genre 2 - Facebook
I composed this genre because of the social media age we are in and how many people I can reach.
Yes, I have a Facebook.
I Started with this genre.
After I created my first genre I wanted to find another source of social media that I could do many things on besides just literature illustrations. I chose Facebook, then created an anonymous account by the name of Jim Johnson. I used this account to crate a Facebook group. After the page was made I created the name, created the profile pictures, filled in the bio explaining my group and began to post.
This genre is posted on my third genre (flyer) that was placed outside of admissions over the weekend.
The beauty of social media is that we can affect a direct group of people while at the same time being viewable to all. So just because im talking to specifically FSU students in pre-med/allied health undergraduate majors I believe other FSU or even FAMU students can apply the knowledge to their respected situation.
Genre 3 - Flyer
I wanted a real-world genre, something your everyday student could pick up and be directed to my media.
I’ve never created a flyer before.
I started with this genre.
After creating my other forms of medias, I tied them all together using this flyer. I went on Microsoft word and created a flyer outline. After that I filled it in with details about a meeting that was going to take place at my address. I then filled in details about the whole purpose of the meeting and proposed the reader to follow my other forms of media. Then after I returned to Tallahassee I posted these flyers up outside of admissions.
This allows me to reach professors as well. On my Facebook I talk about things FSU can do to improve their retention rates. I believe not only students, but professors can gain knowledge by picking up a flyer.
